The freakiest mundane you'll ever meet. I put up a good front of normality, but I've accrued enough strange, scary, and just plain cool experiences to fill a library.

Exhausted, he wakes, dressing before dawn,
and greets first light the same unceasing way.
His life's become more litany than song
but still he moves, determined, through the day.
Within him lies the strength to keep the pace
because he knows someday the prize will be
a chance to trade all drudgery and haste
for treasured ease and true prosperity.
He brushes off concern from those who seek
a scattered life of freedom without cost.
Once tempted, then deriding himself weak,
he trudges on, enduring short-term loss.
I think my friend is wiser than most know;
His current ebb presages future flow.
